What the Fix Involves
For a full new installation, the first thing we look at is what's actually original versus what's been patched. A house built in the late 1990s usually still has its original track and jamb hardware, even if the door skin itself got replaced once along the way after a dent or a storm. That means when we swap in a new door, we're often re-anchoring to jamb brackets that have been load-bearing for over two decades - worth checking before we hang anything new on them, not after. We size the new door to the existing opening, confirm the header can carry a heavier insulated panel if that's the upgrade, and match spring wind to the actual door weight rather than guessing off the old spec plate, since plate numbers on 25-year-old doors don't always match what's really hanging there anymore. Osprey's mild coastal climate means we're not fighting freeze-thaw cracking in the slab or extreme temperature swings in the track, so the install itself is usually straightforward mechanical work, not a structural fight.
What Is on the Truck
We come from Venice, about 6 miles up the road, so what's on the truck is what we loaded before we left - there's no local depot in Osprey to run back to for a part we didn't bring. For a standard install that means a stock run of double and single door sizes, standard-lift and insulated panel options, torsion springs sized to common residential door weights, and openers in the trim levels we install most. If your opening is non-standard, or you want a specialty panel style, that's usually a special order rather than something we're carrying that day. We'd rather tell you that up front than show up short.
